About Gozo

The island of Gozo was discovered by the Temple Builders almost 7000 years ago. They left much for us to admire and revere, including the superb megalithic temples of Ggantija.

Gozo is one of a kind. It must be seen and experienced to really appreciate and enjoy its charm, many people refer to Gozo as the land were time stands still and in many ways that is still true.

Also referred to us as the island of Love and Honey, Gozo is small yet it provides for all modern requirements from health to banking, educational and communication facilities.

There is much to explore and discover on Gozo, going through the main bustling city of Victoria to the outlying small villages one discovers the attractions of a rural, agricultural community which thrives on the cultivation of the land, as is most evident in the beautiful Lunzjata Valley.

The Gozitans are dedicated to their parish churches, and a visit to these baroque churches is a must. Gozo is truly the Mediterranean’s hidden treasure.

Gozo's Climate

Gozo enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, long hot summers, mild winters, winter rain and summer drought.

The rainy season starts in September and continues till May. November, December, January and February are normally the wettest months.

It rarely rains from mid-May to mid-September and the rain usually falls in heavy showers which do not last long.

Gozo is blessed with much more sunshine than other countries further north and there is hardly a day when the sun does not shine.

The coldest months are January and February when the maximum temperature averages around 15.2ºC. The hottest months are July and August which have an average maximum temperature of 30.4ºC.
